Axxess 2014 in Review: A Quick Look at an Amazing Year

2014 was nothing short of an amazing year for Axxess.  We were very busy: expansive business growth, hiring employees, launching new products and services, visiting states from coast to coast and meeting and greeting healthcare industry professionals.

Of course, we weren’t the only busy ones. We supported every one of our nearly 2,000 agency clients along their own journeys throughout the year. During the year we met hundreds of our agency partners and heard how they are growing and changing. We sponsored many industry conferences and talked with home health professionals. We met with state and national association members and gained a deeper understanding of what the industry needs. We visited many of our home health agency clients and discussed how we can help them grow.  We trained clinicians on our software and used their feedback to make our great products even better. We also worked to help empower and educate our agency partners and clinicians on regulatory updates and policy changes.

Here are some of the highlights of our busy year:

Mobile Matters. We launched our mobile app for iOS and Android devices in March. Immediately, the app was embraced by our clients. Feedback from agency professionals has been positive. They say the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) feature with GPS tracking and availability of documentation like patient charts helps them stay complaint.  Additionally clinicians tell us the app is easy to use and that the real-time notation capability is a real time saver. In just a few months, we hit a milestone of well over 10,000 users!

Home Health is a Groundswell Movement. We’ve always been passionate about home health – the value proposition in the larger healthcare system, the excellence in level of care and its potential for growth. In March, we visited Washington, D.C. to participate in the Alliance for Home Health Quality and Innovation (AHHQI) workshop to launch their ‘Future of Home Health’ project and in September, we participated in a Twitter chat. The Alliance – along with many other companies and individuals – have demonstrated their commitment to research and education about the value of home health to patients across the U.S. We’re proud to sponsor this important project and will continue to do so in 2015.

Patient Satisfaction Surveys Improve Patient Outcomes.   In October, we were approved as a Home Health Consumer Assessment of Health Providers Service (HH CAHPS) vendor. The survey information Axxess gathers for agency assessments provides valuable feedback on the quality measures and care delivered by the agency. This was another important step in our goal of helping healthcare organizations deliver and measure quality care, streamline their operations and improve patient outcomes.

Networking at NAHC. As the platinum sponsor of the 2014 National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) annual convention, held in Phoenix, we had the pleasure of meeting with our colleagues from across the country.  U.S. home health and hospice providers nationwide learned industry ‘best practices’ during the two-day meeting. Attendees were able to network and make new connections at this well-attended event.  We’re already planning for another great show in Nashville in 2015.

Awarding is Rewarding. Our company got some great recognition this year. In September, the Dallas Business Journal included CEO John Olajide in ‘Who’s Who in Healthcare.’ October brought more recognition with Olajide and Axxess winning D CEO magazine’s ‘Excellence in Healthcare’ award.  These prestigious awards are significant within the healthcare industry for recognizing innovative industry leaders and honoring outstanding healthcare executives.

Moving and Growing. Due to our phenomenal success and growth, we hired new employees in 2014.  We searched high and low – and across the country – for the most talented individuals in our industry and we are proud they are a part of our team. All these new employees mean we need more space! In the fall, we announced plans to relocate our corporate headquarters to a new, 25,000 square foot space in Dallas.  We’re excited to move into the new space in early 2015.

Additional Highlights. We celebrated National Nurses Week, Customer Service Week and National Home Care & Hospice Month and the Twelve Days of Christmas. We recognized the hard work and dedication of our own employees with Employee Appreciation Week, where Axxess team members from across the country came to our Dallas headquarters for a week of corporate events. We also had a summer picnic at an amusement park, a holiday party with skyline views of downtown Dallas and many office gatherings in between.

What’s Next? 2015 promises to be another amazing year and we’ll be hitting the ground running in January. Happy New Year!
