Axxess Hospice: Our New State-of-the-Art Solution for Compassionate Caregivers

A hospice patient happy to see his family at his bedside

When I founded Axxess, it was with the specific vision of becoming the healthcare technology company most admired for our people, partnerships and solutions. By attracting the best people, we have created an award-winning culture that has helped Axxess be the industry leader in innovation over the past decade. As a result, Axxess solutions are used by more agencies than other software provider.

Innovative Hospice Software

The newest innovation we are offering is specifically designed to make lives better for hospice caregivers and their patients. Most hospice solutions evolve from home health software, and are limited in how they address the needs specific to hospice. In developing Axxess Hospice, I emphasized to our engineers and product development team of hospice experts that the solution must specifically address the unique needs of hospice professionals. I am delighted the result is a state-of-the-art, easy-to-use software that stands out from other solutions being offered.

As you may know, all solutions go through a testing period with a handful of users to make it truly special by the time it is shared with the entire industry. We are in that phase right now, but we are already getting raves for the unique features it has to specifically improve the workflow for hospice caregivers.

I’m so excited about what we offer that I want to share a few of the key features which differentiate Axxess Hospice from other solutions. They include a robust IDG Center, messaging ability, scheduling, billing, a one-of-a-kind Bereavement Center, an orders management capability and a feature to track inquiries. This blog will highlight the IDG Center and messaging, and a future blog will address some of the other features.

IDG Center

The IDG (Interdisciplinary Group) Center enables agencies to manage the IDG process seamlessly. A few of the unique features include:

  • Team Scheduling: Everyone on the can see scheduled IDG meetings at a glance, and everyone can document at the same time during IDG meetings.
  • Auto-generated Agenda: The IDG agenda is used by hospice agencies to ensure that patients are discussed as required by the CMS Conditions of Participation.
  • Interactive Compliance Tracking: Compliance tracking can easily be visualized.
Documents required for patients to be admitted and to continue to receive hospice care are listed on an easy-to-use table.
  • Bulk Signatures: IDG members are only required to sign the IDG log once. This signature flows to each document needing each user’s signature. This eliminates the need for IDG team members to sign documents for each patient individually, and the physician always signs last to ensure compliance with physician orders.
  • Individual and Group Notifications: From the IDG Center, team members can be notified individually or as a group, as needed. This makes it easy for IDG members to communicate without leaving the page.
  • My Personal Notes: This feature allows IDG members to make notes before and during IDG. No need for sticky notes or note pads full of patient information. My Personal Notes is HIPPA-compliant makes it easy for clinicians to make and keep notes.

Messaging

The Axxess Hospice Messaging Center is HIPAA-compliant and designed to make it easy for members of the care team to communicate with one another. The valuable features include:

  • Chat: Chat runs like the messaging used by IOS and Android products.
Team members can chat with one another in a HIPAA-compliant manner. Team members can be added to a chat at any time.
They will be able to see and send messages once they are added.
  • Group Chat: Users have multiple options to start a group chat to involve multiple team members in a conversation.
  • Search: This easily accessible feature allows users to search messages that are in the chat function to find messages without scrolling through all their messages.
  • Message Alert: Team members can add an alert to any message they send to show it is a priority. An alert will notify other team members that an urgent message has been sent to them. Importantly, this feature allows caregivers to send urgent messages to team members without having to step away from their patient to make a call or to stop to send an email. The agency decides the frequency of the alerts.
  • Attachments: Team members can attach documents or images to the messages they send from the message center. Rather than searching for the message that includes the attachment, team members can click on Shared Files to view attachments that have been shared with them.
  • Tag Team Members and Patients: Caregivers can attach messages to the patient chart using the # symbol (#johnsmith). Team members can tag others by using the @ symbol (@suesmith). When hovering over the tagged team member’s name, the full name and contact information for the tagged individual will be visible.

The IDG Center and messaging capabilities are just a few of the exciting features Axxess Hospice offers. I’ll share even more in the future.
