How Emerging Technologies Can Drive Operational Efficiency to Ensure Compliance

March 5, 2025

Organizations are exploring how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, can enhance operations and improve care quality, helping them more effectively prepare for regulatory changes.

Christina Andrews, Senior Director of Professional Services, and Armine Khudanyan, Founder and CEO of QAPIplus, discussed the uncertainty surrounding regulatory changes outlined in Axxess’ 2025 Care at Home Industry Trends Report and explored how emerging technology can ease some concerns.

Regulatory Uncertainty

During the discussion, Andrews highlighted that a growing number of organizations feel uncertain about upcoming regulatory changes. She emphasized that unprepared organizations could face significant compliance issues and growth challenges if these changes are not addressed.

“The Axxess Industry Trends Report highlighted significant uncertainty about upcoming regulatory changes, with only 40% of respondents feeling somewhat prepared,” said Andrews. “This gap could hinder compliance and overall business growth if not addressed.”

Khudanyan echoed this sentiment and noted that technology is going to be essential in filling the gap and ensuring compliance.

“Automated compliance tools make it easier for organizations to meet regulatory requirements,” said Khudanyan. “By leveraging these technologies, healthcare providers can not only optimize resource allocation but also enhance the overall care delivery process.”

Patient Care and Administrative Operations

Khudanyan emphasized that technology should act as a support system that strengthens human connections. She noted that organizations can use technology to provide insights into potential health risks, enabling care teams to take preventative action without disrupting patient care. Ensuring that organizations improve patient safety is crucial for their long-term success in the evolving healthcare system.

“It [Technology] should work behind the scenes, giving care teams valuable insights into potential risks so they can take preventative action without interrupting the flow of patient care,” said Khudanyan.

Organizations can also use technology to streamline administrative tasks, enabling clinicians to dedicate more time to patient care.

“Technology should support administrative tasks, which enables clinicians to provide high-touch patient care,” said Khudanyan. “In essence, advanced analytics and AI can be utilized to identify trends in patient care, leading to data-driven decision-making.”

In addition to the increased focus on patient care, technology can reduce administrative task burdens, enabling staff to focus on tasks that make a measurable difference in the organization. Ensuring this efficiency is crucial for organizations to navigate the changing regulatory landscape.

“Technology plays a role in streamlining operations and reducing administrative burdens,” said Khudanyan. “This can enable staff members to be more efficient by turning busy work into value-added actions that make measurable difference.”
