This intensive two day course focuses on a number of topics in nursing informatics, and reviews current informatics trends and issues in health. The foundational concepts of informatics models and theories will serve to frame the course and all the topics. The professional practice of nursing informatics based on the American Nurses Association scope and standards of practice will be reviewed.
The software development system lifecycle from the health care perspective will be outlined with application to addressing integration of technology in healthcare and the various settings care is provided. The role of human interactions with clinical information systems and a review of human factors will be explored. Also covered are the key concepts in informatics, information technology, information management, knowledge generation and data security.
Current and future trends will complete the course and round out the content.This course focuses on nurses interested in becoming Certified Informatics Nurses, however other clinical professionals working in informatics may wish to take the course to become exposed to the course topics.
